Loud Manila Clasico crowd amazes NBA star Mitchell

Donovan Mitchell is as versatile on offense as he can be.

Utah’s Rookie of the Year frontrunner averaged 20.5 points while shooting at a 43.7 percent clip and 34 percent from deep.

Mitchell can fly to the rim with the best of dunkers and he can also shoot like this era’s best shooter hitting a total of 187 three-pointers, a rookie record, in the regular season.

And Mitchell can practically add “basketball commentator” to his budding resume.

Mitchell was part of ESPN 5’s broadcast team for the PBA Commissioner’s Cup game between Magnolia and Barangay Ginebra Sunday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

“It’s just so loud in here,” said Mitchell during the broadcast while being reminded of the intensity the Jazz crowd during home games at Vivint Smart Home Arena.

“There are plenty of teams that take the crowd away, we make sure to pump our crowd at home while taking the crowd away during our away games.”

Mitchell, however, left before the Hotshots’ 16-2 run that put Magnolia up, 38-33, late in the second period but the action prior was enough for him to get into playing mentality.

“This is amazing. I want to play right now and get on the court.”
