Air Force enters PVL men’s semis
Air Force booked the last semifinals berth in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference after a 25-19, 25-19, 17-25, 25-22 victory over Instituto Estetico in the men’s quarterfinals Wednesday at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
The Jet Spikers improved to a 2-0 record in the playoffs while the Volley Masters remained winless after two games.
Air Force broke a 21-all deadlock in the fourth frame using a quick 4-1 burst, capped by an attack error from Instituto Estetico to seal the match.
“The players became complacent in the third set but came back in the fourth. They showed that even though we’re down, we need to find a way to get back in the game just like what we did in the previous sets,” said Air Force head coach Hovyl Verayo in Filipino.
Ismail Fauzi spearheaded the Jet Spikers with 16 markers while Bryan Bagunas and Alnakran Abdilla added 15 and 10 points, respectively.
Gregorio Dolor led the Volley Masters with 22 points. Ma. Angelica D. Garcia
