The Philippine Superliga will reinstate special playing regulations that will require all teams to play their whole roster for the Chooks-to-Go Invitational Conference kicking off this Saturday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Philippine Superliga director Anna Tomas said they reapplied this rule to level out the playing field in the league.
“We give importance to all the players, not only who is famous. We allow everyone to get a chance to be seen,” Tomas said in Thursday’s tournament press conference at Amelie Hotel in Malate.
Under the special rule, teams will have to play a different set of players off the bench in the second set.
After the second set, squads will have the freedom to play any players from the roster again.
A total of ten teams plus the newly formed women’s volleyball national team will see action. However, the games of the national team will be non-bearing matches.
PSL officials also explained that the national team players will be playing for their respective club teams when their games are held.
The teams participating are Petron, Foton, Generika-Ayala, F2 Logistics, United Auctioneers, Cherrylume, Cocolife, Smart-Army, Sta. Lucia and the defending champion Cignal. Ma. Angelica D. Garcia
