‘Military’ run series slated next month

MANILA—A military camp theme, sunset run and pollution-free routes await participants in the Camp Run Series set to fire off June 25 inside Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City.

The year-long series of running events will have 5K and 10K distances, with  an expected turnout of at least 3,000 per event.  The sunset run will start at 5:30 p.m.  A night race is slated in August while the usual morning run is set in November.

Organizer eXtribe promises ample water stations and accurate kilometer and directional markings.  Free training clinics and a designated family and finishers’ activity area will also be set up.

To encourage participants to attend all Camp Run Series events, organizers designed a “VeteRan” system, which will recognize runners who joined all races.  They will receive a special race bib, event T-shirt, and a commemorative dog tag and medal.

The Camp Run Series is one of the programs under eXtribe’s Race2Raise campaign, an initiative aimed at fostering community involvement and sustainable support for the company’s partner foundations.

The partner foundations are the Education Department’s Adopt a School Program, ABS CBN’s E-media Project, Hero Foundation Inc., and 57-75 Movement: Reverse the Education Crisis, a beneficiary of the iamninoy-iamcory runners of the Ninoy and Cory Aquino Foundation.

The organizing eXtribe specializes in sports events management. It headed the 2011 Subic International Marathon.
