PetroGazz firms up PVL semis bid, crushes Iriga-Navy
PetroGazz made quick work of Iriga-Navy, 25-19, 25-14, 25-19 to strengthen its semifinals bid in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference on Saturday at the Filoil Flying V Centre.
The Angels are tied with Pocari-Sweat Air Force with matching 3-1 records at second place.
Relea Saet allowed the Lady Oragons to inch closer in the third frame after a service error but a down-the-line kill from import Olena Lymareva-Flink finished the job.
“We explained to the players that we can’t afford to lose another match if we want to get to the semifinals. We have to work for every match,” PetroGazz head coach Jerry Yee said in Filipino.
PetroGazz detonated an 11-1 bomb later in the second set to take a 2-0 advantage.
The Angels took notice of the Lady Oragons’ faulty reception and dropped nine service aces.
Lymareva-Flink and Anastasiia Trach both tallied 17 points apiece.
