Banko-Perlas gains semis playoff, ousts BaliPure-NU

Banko-Perlas remained undefeated as it clobbered BaliPure-National University, 25-19, 22-25, 25-14, 25-19, Saturday in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference quarterfinals at Filoil Flying V Centre.

As the Perlas Spikers collected their fourth straight win and earned at least a playoff for the semifinals, the Water Defenders were eliminated from the race after absorbing their third straight loss.

BaliPure-NU was hanging on the fourth set after a net touch violation on BanKo-Perlas but Princess Robles committed an attack error that ended their semifinals hopes.

In the third set, the Perlas Spikers sparked a 9-2 blitz, capped by a block from Amy Ahomiro, to clinch the 25-14 win.

“We are on six-game winning streak in the preliminaries and the players feel good because we keep getting wins,” BanKo-Perlas head coach Ariel dela Cruz said in Filipino.

Their six-game winning roll began last May 26 when they defeated PayMaya in five sets.

The Perlas Spikers exploited BaliPure-NU’s 35 errors as they dropped 47 kills.

Lakia Bright showed the way for the Perlas Spikers with 24 points.

Wated Defender Alexis Matthews had 17 points in a losing effort.
