More than 500 people, some of them active and former Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) players and their families, were able to secure passports on Monday during the pro league’s joint effort with the Department of Foreign Affairs called “Passport on Wheels.”
Fans, team officials and even sportswriters flocked to the league’s offices in Libis, Quezon City, to avail of the PBA’s outreach program designed to help lighten the load at the DFA’s regular centers.
“It warms the heart that the PBA was able to help in its own little way,” commissioner Willie Marcial said. “This is a big help to our fans.”
Former Alaska Milk star forward Bong Hawkins came with his two kids, together with Rain or Shine coach Caloy Garcia, Meralco assistant coach Luigi Trillo and another ex-pro, Nic Belasco.
The PBA is also set to conduct a blood-letting session at Smart Araneta Coliseum on July 7.
