The Philippine men’s beach handball team on Wednesday secured a slot in the semifinals in the International Beach Handball Grand Prix in Shandong, China.

The Amigos posted a 4-2 record in the elimination, which began with a rousing 37-22 upset win over home team Shandong on Sunday.

“Hopefully we get another win to end up with a podium finish,” said head coach Jana Franquelli.

Handball, led by president Steve Hontiveros and secretary general Ernesto Jay Adalem, is hoping to include the sport in the 2019 Manila Southeast Asian Games.
