Far Eastern University booked a semifinals spot after outgunning La Salle, 76-69, in the Filoil Flying V Preseason Cup on Thursday.
Hubert Cani scored the last 11 of 13 points for the Tamaraws including a dagger stepback jumper with 27.8 ticks left for the 74-69 lead.
“Facing the seasoned teams from Group A of the tournament help us in our preparation for the coming UAAP season,” FEU head coach Olsen Racela said.
La Salle will face the winner of the Ateneo-Letran matchup.
The Green Archers used a 13-2 surge at the start of the payoff period to take the lead, 59-54.
FEU collared 44 rebounds while La Salle only had 35.
Cani spearheaded the Tamaraws with 22 points while Arvin Tolentino and Prince Orizu chipped in 10 apiece.
