Rey Pagunsan and Ryan Monsalbe compiled an aggregate score of 287 (one under par) to best 144 amateur and professional golfers who braved initial stormy conditions recently in the first Prospero “Butch” Pichay Pro-Am Golf tournament at Veterans Golf Club.
Three strokes back was the team of Robert Pactolerin and JR Salahog in second place, while third was the duo of Topeng Delos Santos and Richard Joson.
The field featured pros from Japan and the recently crowned 10-year-old Pacific Link Hills Taiwan Open champion Miko Granada.
Seventy-two two-man teams fought it out during the two-day event for a share of the P1-million pot in a benefit event held for the Gawad Kalinga feeding program of IP students in San Miguel, Surigao del Sur.
Meanwhile, in the individual pro category, Richard Abaring prevailed over Robert Pactolerin in sudden death at the 18th hole, after both carded a two-day aggregate score of 137. Erwin Arcilla placed third just one stroke back of the leaders.
