San Juan grabs joint mpbl lead
Proving its impressive debut was no fluke, San Juan-Go For Gold flexed its defensive muscle early for an easy 94-76 victory over Bulacan on Saturday night for its second straight win in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) Datu Cup at Valenzuela Astrodome.
Former Centro Escolar star Aaron Jeruta fired 18 points but it was Jhonard Clarito’s intensity that set the tone for San Juan, which joined Navotas and Makati at the top of the North division.
Clarito, a standout from De Ocampo Memorial College, finished with just nine points but came away with four of the Knights’ record-tying 15 steals.
Later, Valenzuela-Idol Cheesedog picked up its first victory at the expense of Basilan, 96-94.
