Azkals Alyansa trail Madrid, 0-2

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine “Azkals Alyansa” trail the C.F. Internacional De Madrid, 0-2, at halftime of the “Dili Kamo Nag-Iisa (You are not alone)” charity match Saturday at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

The Philippine team looked sluggish in keeping up with the attacking of the Spanish side in the first half of the exhibition match for the victims of Typhoon “Sendong.”

Azkals Alyansa is composed of Philippine-based national team players and United Football League (UFL) standouts and proceeds of the game will go to the Philippine Red Cross.

CFIM doubled the scoreline courtesy of a goal from Daniel Garcia Fernandez in the 32nd minute.

Rufo Sanchez opened up the scoring for the Spanish with on a penalty kick in the 15th minute, beating the Azkals keeper Eduard Sacapano.

The Azkals have muffed several clear cut chances in the first half from Ian Araneta and Phil Younghusband among others.
