After scoring a maiden Philippine Golf Tour victory in record fashion at Pueblo de Oro, Korean Kim Joo Hyung goes for another first: A PGT Asia diadem in the $100,000 ICTSI Forest Hills Championship beginning Wednesday in Antipolo.

But the 16-year-old downplayed his chances on the tougher Forest Hills Golf and Country Club’s Nicklaus course.

“I feel good and my game is in shape,” said Kim, who fired a three-under-par 69 for a 270 total that beat local bet Jobim Carlos by one in Cagayan de Oro over the weekend. “But even if I won last week, I’m still trying to learn right now.”

He beat the record of Miguel Tabuena, who first won when he was 17.

He expects to learn more this week from a souped-up field that includes Jobim Carlos, reigning back-to-back PGT Forest Hills winner Tony Lascuña, and reigning PGT Order of Merit champion Clyde Mondilla. Del Monte leg winner Nicolas Paez of the US heads the foreign roster.
