MANILA—More than P500,000 in cash prizes will be given away in the FDG Cup 2011 National Open and Invitational badminton tournament on July 1 and 2 at PowerSmash.
Top badminton prospects in the country will try to claim the prize money before heading off to the second leg of the Philippine Badminton Ranking System (PBaRS) tournament in Bacolod.
The eliminations up to the quarterfinals will be held in the first day and the semifinalss and the finals will be held at the second day.
The men’s double winners will receive a grand prize of P160,000. Mixed doubles champions will receive P100,000 and ladies doubles winners will be awarded P80,000.
The invitational will also hold an exhibition match between world No. 1 Lee Chong Wei against Koo Kien Keat, one-half of the current doubles world No. 4 with Boon Heong Tan.
