Game 2 between Ginebra and Rain or Shine canceled, rescheduled on Thursday

The PBA has cancelled Game 2 of the best-of-five PBA Commissioner’s Cup semifinals between Barangay Ginebra and Rain or Shine scheduled on Tuesday, July 17, at Smart Araneta Coliseum due to the bad weather.

Your PBA is cancelling its game today due to floods and the continuing inclement weather. Safety and security of the fans, players and officials are always of utmost importance,” league commissioner Willie Marcial said in a statement.

Marcial said Game 2 has been moved on Thursday, 7 p.m., still at Araneta Coliseum in Cubao.

The heavy rain was caused by ‘Henry,’ which intensified to a tropical storm, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

Game 2 of the best-of-5 semifinals series between Barangay Ginebra San Miguel and Rain or Shine Elastopainters is rescheduled on Thursday, July 19, 7pm at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

“Maraming salamat po at mag-ingat po tayong lahat (Thank you and let’s all be safe).”

The Gin Kings got a 1-0 headstart in the series after beating the Elastopainters, 102-89, on Sunday night behind Justin Brownlee and Jeff Chan.

Brownlee almost had a triple-double with 35 points, 14 rebounds and nine assists while Chan, who played eight seasons at Rain or Shine, had 21 points on 3-of-5 shooting from downtown, and four rebounds in 22 minutes off the bench.
