Filipinos make mark in under-12 baseball tournament in US
The Philippines’ under-12 baseball team nearly won it all in the Cal Ripken Blue Crab tournament in Aberdeen, Maryland, USA.
The Philippine Pioneers entered the finals undefeated but just couldn’t muster enough strength as they bowed to the Chardon Eagles in the extra 7th inning, 11-10.
The young Filipinos, most of whom hail from Batangas, finished the week-long tournament as the second-best team out of 24, edging American and Canadian squads.

Before their duel with the Eagles, the Pioneers beat the New England Rebels, 6-2, and the Flemington Red Devils, 10-5, in back-to-back fashion.
