With Metro Manila experiencing the effects of the monsoon rains, Rain or Shine head coach Caloy Garcia decided to look at the bright side that surrounded the gloom.
Garcia welcomed the change of schedule for Game 2 of their best-of-five semifinals series from Tuesday to Thursdau, something he believes will benefit from Ginebra as well.
“Basically it works for both sides because Japeth [Aguilar] gets more time to heal while we had more practices than going to the first game,” said Garcia in a story on the league’s official website.
Rain or Shine trails 1-0 after losing the first game, 102-89, on Sunday at Smart Araneta Coliseum, a matchup Aguilar skipped because of a sore left Achilles.
The Elasto Painters, meanwhile, had only two days of practice to prepare for the Gin Kings after playing a rubber match against Globalport last Thursday.
Garcia said they used the canceled game day to polish off their schemes against the Gin Kings.
“It’s more lack of effort and we weren’t that consistent,” said Garcia of Game 1. “We were able to see it on video and we have made adjustments.”
