Jones Cup: Ateneo blasts Lithuania for third straight win

Ateneo is off to higher altitudes after putting away Lithuania in dominant fashion, 98-65, for its third straight win in the William Jones Cup Thursday at Xinzhuang Gymnasium in Taiwan.

The Blue Eagles, who dropped two straight games after winning their opener, improved to 4-2 and moved to the third seed while Lithuania dropped to eighth with a 1-6 record.

Ateneo was already in the driver’s seat as early as the second quarter then finished the first half way ahead, 43-28.

But the demolition didn’t stop there as Blue Eagles outscored the Lithuanians 30-18 for the 73-46 lead with Angelo Kouame scoring 11 of his total19 points in the period.

William Navarro had a team-high 20 points to lead Ateneo while Thirdy Ravena had 14 points, eight rebounds, three assists, and two steals.

Isaac Go and Mike Nieto had an identical production of 10 points, five rebounds, and two steals for the Blue Eagles.

Žygimantas Jocys led Lithuania with 20 points.
