Far Eastern University survived a five-set thriller and beat College of St. Benilde, 25-19, 32-30, 15-25, 24-26, 15-4, in the Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference women’s tournament at the Filoil Flying V Centre on Sunday.

Lady Tamaraw Kyle Negrito’s drop sealed a 7-0 run in the fifth set that finished off the Lady Blazers.

“I told my players before the fifth set that we need to focus on the opponent, not on our errors,” FEU head coach George Pascua said in Filipino.

An attack error by France Ronquillo and a through-the-block hit from Lady Blazer Chelsea Umali at the end of the fourth canto forced the game into a deciding set.

The Lady Tamaraws’ points came mostly from the Lady Blazers’ 47 errors, next to their 51 kills.

Celine Domingo led the way for FEU with 14 points while Jemili Malabanan and newcomer Lycha Ebon had 11 points apiece.

Marites Pablo led all scorers with 20 points.
