Winning the national championships has become beneficial for Ismael Grospe and Jermyn Prado as they head the four-man Filipino cycling team in the Prudential RideLondon 2018, the world’s biggest cycling festival.
The 18-year-old Grospe will make a return trip to London where over 100,000 cyclist all over the globe are set to race on July 28 and 29.
The sprinter is the current national champion in the men’s elite under-23 category and will see action in the 46-mile event.
“We’ll be carrying the Philippine flag, so the goal is to keep up with the best cyclists in the world during the race,” said Philippine Navy Standard Insurance’s Prado, who will race in the women’s 100-mile.
Prado ruled the women’s elite road race and criterium women’s elite when the PhilCycling held the Philippine National Road Race Championships early this year.
“Exposing our cyclists will give them more confidence when we compete in big tournaments,” said national team coach Cesar Lobramonte.
Jeremy Marana and Aidan Mendoza, the best competitors in the individual time trial women’s U-23 and criterium men’s U-23, respectively, will join the PH team.
