Go for Gold routs Marinerong Pilipino, gains share of lead


Go for Gold-College of St. Benilde obliterated Marinerong Pilipino-TIP, 86-71, in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig on Monday.

The Scratchers avenged their first-round defeat to the Engineers and are now tied with Che’lu Bar and Grill at the top of the standings with similar 7-2 win-loss records.


“We might not be able to score much every game but defense we have a chance to take every game,” Go For Gold head coach Charles Tiu said.

Go For Gold scored 11 fastbreak points compared to the Engineers’ two.


The Scratchers also sank 11 triples in the match out of 29 attempts and buried 17 out of the 19 free throws.

Jai Reyes dropped 19 poonts and eight rebounds for the Scratchers while Dan Wong followed suit with 14 markers.

Abu Tratter scored 16 points for the Engineers in a losing effort.
