Bliss Bayking toppled second seed Paula Uy, 4-2, 5-4(1), Tuesday to barge into the quarterfinals of the girls’ 16-and-under division of the Palawan Pawnshop-Palawan Express Pera Padala Valle Verde Country Club National Age-Group tennis tournament in Pasig City.
No. 1 Anna De Myer rolled past Sabina Favis to arrange a Last 8 duel with Elise Cruz, who outlasted Katherine Mercado, 5-4(7), 1-4, 10-8.
Third seed Justine Maneja also reached the quarterfinals after clobbering Nina Sandejas, 4-0, 4-1, to set up a clash with Patricia Lim, who subdued Kaye Emana, 5-4(4), 4-2.
No. 4 Kryshana Brazal whipped Lila Salvacion, 4-0, 4-2, to seal a showdown with Ma. Beatriz Cruz, who ripped Franchezka Malaki, 4-2, 4-0, while eighth-ranked Macie Carlos crushed Chelsea Roque, 4-0, 4-1, for a duel with Bayking.
Renee Esteban scored a walkover win over top seed Bea Acena from Ilocos, who failed to make it to the event due to inclement weather, to join the other big guns in the quarters of the premier 18-U side of the Group I event.
