MANILA, Philippines — Rain or Shine drew double-figure scoring from five players led by Jeff Chan to hack out an emphatic 110-95 Game 4 win over Powerade Tuesday night and tie their semifinals series at 2-2 in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Chan, the lefty marksman, had a team-high 19 points while blue-chip rookie Paul Lee bounced back after his error-filled end game in game 3 with 15 points, five rebounds and four assists.
“I didn’t think about our last game, I just stayed focused tonight,” said the second overall pick.
The Elasto Painters bucked another 30-point night from Gary David, who extended his shooting streak to six games.
“We just shot better and we worked harder today I think that’s the simple reason why we won,” said ROS head coach Yeng Guiao.
“I also know that we won’t shoot 10% (from three) today, we have the players who can make shots,” Guiao added.
Ronnie Matias added 12 points while Gabe Norwood and big man Beau Belga had 11 and 10 points respectively.
Rain or Shine only led by eight, 53-45, at the intermission before pulling away for good in the ensuing quarter thanks to its hot-shooting.
The E-Painters also got a lift from Ty Tang, who helped maintain Rain or Shine’s momentum in the third period with nifty dimes and timely jumpers.
Tang, the former De La Salle standout came away with nine points.
David, perhaps the best player in the league today, had his way despite a sub-par shooting from the field.
Marcio Lassiter had 18 points but was hardly felt and so was JV Casio, who only scored nine points.
Game 5 will be on Friday as the series is now down to a best-of-three.
