Far Eastern University buckled down and repulsed San Beda in four sets, 25-16, 21-25, 25-21, 25-22, for its second straight win in the 2018 Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference Wednesday at Filoil Flying V Centre.
The Lady Tamaraws got to the 24-20 match point after the Lady Red Spikers fumbled the ball four times.
San Beda, however, managed to score two more points after Cesca Raqraquin’s hit and a net touch in FEU, 24-22.
Grace Carandang then finished things off with a quick dump after FEU head coach George Pascua’s timeout.
Pascua said they’re still fixing the team’s chemistry after the departure of Bernadeth Pons, who graduated after 80th season of the UAAP, and the absence of Toni Rose Basas, who is nursing an infection on her right ear.
“This is still a long journey, the chemistry is still being fixed,” said Pascua in Filipino as his team improved to 2-0. “These two games are like the experimental stage so we’re still looking how these players will fit into their positions.”
“Chemistry is very important and that’s what we’re developing.”
Celine Domingo had 22 points to lead the Lady Tamaraws while rookie Lycha Ebon added 10.
Nieza Viray led San Beda with 17 points while twin sister Ella had 12.
