San Miguel’s blowout win over Barangay Ginebra wasn’t the only thing noteworthy in Game 2 of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals.
Things got heated between the players on the court in a time when the Beermen already had the game in the bag.
With the Beermen leading, 119-95, midway through the fourth, Arwind Santos hit Scottie Thompson’s gut at the 5:18 mark of the quarter.
Santos’ hit earned him a trip to the locker room but the 2013 MVP decried the flagrant foul penalty 2 that was given to him.
“The rules say that if you hit someone above shoulder, or when you have a closed fist, then, that’s when you will be given a flagrant 2,” said Santos in Filipino Sunday shortly after his ejection.
“You guys can see what I did, and I’ve been playing this game for so long to know the difference,” added Santos, who left the game with 14 points, four assists, and two steals. “I was just trying to give a screen but what I got was an F2.”
Santos wasn’t the only Beerman to get thrown out as it only took 13 seconds for Chris Ross to join him inside the San Miguel dugout.
Ross was called for a technical foul for continuous complaining while Thompson was shooting his free throws and he got his second one when he got into a verbal tussle with Joe Devance.
“I don’t think I deserve them but the referees called the technical so I’ll live with it,” said Ross, who finished with game with five assists and two steals.
