Last season, Mapua finished dead last in the standings with only three wins.
This year, the Cardinals have already chalked up a couple victories after only four games but third-year guard Laurenz Victoria knows the team can’t look too far ahead despite tasting early success.
Victoria admitted the Final Four is in the Cardinals mind, though, he added they still have a ton of work to do before they can even seriously think about possibly making the postseason.
“We think about it (Final Four) but sometimes we lie low in practice and that’s what we need to improve on and then, that’s when we can think about the Final Four,” Victoria said in Filipino.
At 2-2, Mapua finds itself in the middle of the pack with similar records as College of St. Benilde and Arellano.
The Cardinals, with added experience, are also more equipped to make a Final Four run this season with the likes of Christian Buñag and Cedric Pelayo to name a few capable of stepping up to support graduating guard Exe Biteng.
In its 91-83 win over Arellano, Mapua had five players in double digits led by Buñag’s 16-point, 10-rebound double-double.
