Shooting president Luis Chavit” Singson said he will go all out to support the country’s national marksmen in their goal to capture a medal in the Olympics.
“I know the resentment of our shooters, so we will support them all the way,” said Singson during the Philippine National Shooting Association’s (PNSA) induction of officers on Monday at the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) offices at Philsports in Pasig City.
“They are discouraged because there is little support. We have to motivate them again in order for us to win medals in international tournaments,” added the former Ilocos Sur governor.
Singson said the objective of the new leadership is to bring home the first-ever Olympic gold from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Singson began his official stint as shooting head by paying off the PNSA’s unliquidated dues worth P435,761.25.
POC president Ricky Vargas swore Singson into office along with PNSA vice president for international affairs James Chua, VP for national affairs Herman delos Santos and Brigadier General Francisco Gudani (ret.), who was elected secretary general.
Manila Yacht Club Commodore Ildefonso “Boy” Tronqued was named chair while former national shooters Severino Villarama (treasurer) and Inocentes Dionesa (corporate secretary) also form part of the board.
Also present during the induction were POC chair Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino, POC secretary general Patrick Gregorio, deputy secretary general Karen Caballero and communications director Ed Picson.
