UST, 2 others post B-League shutouts

MANILA, Philippines – The University of Santo Tomas senior billiards team blanked Pasig Catholic College, 3-0, to lead opening round winners in the 2nd season National Collegiate Billiards League at the Star Billiards Center in Quezon City on Sunday .

Powered by Rodlin John Baustita and Cedric Gonzales, the UST Growling Tigers walloped Pasig Catholic College with a similar 7-1 score in the 9-ball and 10-ball competition followed by a 5-2 score in the 10-ball doubles competition.

Also posting shutout wins were Far Eastern U and Adamson over Centro Escolar and STI, respectively.

Far Eastern beat Centro Escolar, 7-5 in 9-ball, 7-2 in 10-ball, and 5-1 in 10-ball doubles; while Adamson subdued STI, 7-4 in 9-ball, 7-2 in 10-ball, and 5-1 in 10-ball doubles.

Other results saw Biondi Ti spearhead Ateneo’s 2-1 victory over Allan Ventura’s San Beda College and Geona Gregorio lead Letran past Fatima University, 2-1.

In other matches, Trinity University nipped University of Makati, 2-1, San Sebastian repulsed University of the East, 2-1, and AMA edged Arellano University, 2-1.

The UE Red Warriors failed to bounce back in contention in the following game after yielding to Mapua, 1-2.

In the junior division, St. Mary’s School blanked La Salle Green Hills, 3-0; PCC dumped Arellano, 3-0; and Sto. Niño stunned Claret, 2-1.

The B-League is being supported by Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office and Quezon City, through Mayor Herbert Bautista, Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte and Rep. Winston Castelo.
