NCAA: Mocon sparks San Beda to fourth straight win

San Beda kept a clean slate as it thumped Mapua, 88-70, in the NCAA Season 94 men’s basketball tournament at Filoil Flying V Centre.

Javee Mocon turned in a season-best performance, finishing with 22 points and 16 rebounds to finally end his slump and help the Red Lions get their fourth straight win.

Previous to this outing, Mocon was only averaging 11 points and 8.7 rebounds.

“It was a total team effort but Javee stepped up big in this game,” said San Beda coach Boyet Fernandez.

Donaldo Tankoua had 12 points and seven rebounds while Robert Bolick wound up with 11 points and eight assists.

The Cardinals, meanwhile, failed to follow its win over Arellano last Tuesday and slipped to 2-3.

Warren Bonifacio, who is in his rookie season, unleashed a career-best 19 points in the loss.
