San Sebastian dominated Mapua in the second half to win, 90-74, in the NCAA Season 94 men’s basketball tournament Tuesday at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Alvin Capobres provided the Stags with a much-needed lift, erupting for a career-high 21 points.
Capobres got going in the last two quarters, where San Sebastian outscored Mapua, 53-30.
It was a closely-contested game before the Stags broke loose in the third period spearheaded by Capobres, who matched the Cardinals’ output in that pivotal 10-minute stretch with 13 points.
San Sebastian (3-4) snapped out of a two-game slump shot 50 percent from the field.
Allyn Bulanadi added 14 points, six rebounds, five assists and three blocks for the Stags.
