James Yap nervous, excited for first Asian Games stint
He has made countless big shots throughout his celebrated career but James Yap, one of the PBA’s best clutch performers, still gets anxious after all.
At 36, Yap has been there and done that, with one exception.
Article continues after this advertisementYap has never played in the Asian Games until now after being selected to be part of the Philippine team-bound for the upcoming continental quadrennial meet in Jakarta, Indonesia.
“Of course, I’m excited and nervous because it’s going to be my first time,” said Yap after participating in the team’s first practice on Monday night since the announcement of the 14-man pool.
The Rain or Shine swingman said he was surprised that he got the call to suit up for the national team, but as always, Yap is ready to give his all.
Article continues after this advertisement“It’s really special because I never expected this but I was given a chance and I’m ready for the country. We’ll be in for a fight and I need to be in top form,” Yap, who last represented the country in 2009, said.
“I’m ready to sacrifice whatever it is that I can do to help the team.”
