Brownlee wishes he can play for Ginebra ‘forever’

After winning his third PBA title, Justin Brownlee intends to play for Barangay Ginebra for as long as he can.

Brownlee made his debut for the Gin Kings in the 2016 Governors’ Cup where he immediately led the franchise to its first championship in eight years.

The 30-year-old Brownlee was asked how long does he see himself donning the Ginebra colors and his response couldn’t be more perfect for the Gin Kings and their legions of fans.

“Man, I wish forever,” he told reporters Wednesday night after leading Ginebra to a blowout win over San Miguel Beer in Game 6 to capture the 2018 Commissioner’s Cup crown.

“But I don’t know, man. Just see how it goes. I hope for a long time, you know, but I’m just gonna see how it goes.”

Ginebra has gone 3-0 in the finals with Brownlee and with the way the Gin Kings toppled the mighty Beermen, who appeared invincible in their past six trips to the championship round, a fourth trophy could follow shortly in the coming Governors’ Cup.

“We’re gonna have a big target on our backs, I think Justin’s gonna have a huge target on his chest,” Ginebra coach Tim Cone said when asked about his early thoughts on the next conference. “Every import’s gonna be out there to prove themselves against him.”
