Prinze Eze tipped in the game-winner at the buzzer as Perpetual Help escaped with a 78-76 nail-biter over San Sebastian Thursday to stay in the top four of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament.
With 3.3 ticks to play, AJ Coronel took the inbounds pass and threw a well-placed lob to Eze, who hit the marginal basket to the delight of the home crowd at the Altas gym in Las Piñas.
“I would really go to Prince (Eze) on that last shot and you know it with that tip in,” said Perpetual Help coach Frankie Lim.
The win kept Perpetual at No. 4 with a 3-2 (win-loss) record.
Perpetual’s victory came despite the Altas falling behind by 21 in the first half.
SSC’s Allyn Bulanadi sank a triple that gave the Stags a 39-18 lead, their biggest of the game, late in the second period.
But Edgar Charcos exploded with 17 of his 18 points in the second half and Eze muscled his way for the winner.
