PVL: San Beda ends winless run, beats San Sebastian

San Beda snapped out of its fruitless start and dispatched San Sebastian in four sets, 25-14, 21-25, 25-20, 25-16, in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference Saturday at Filoil Flying V Centre.

The Lady Red Spikers ended their three-game slump and got into the winning column while the Lady Stags are still winless after five games.

Cesca Racraquin lit up for 18 points to lead all scorers for San Beda.

San Beda head coach Nemesio Gavino said all the losses finally lit the fire from under his players.

“The players were well motivated because they seemed to really want this win after all those losses,” said Gavino in Filipino. “I told my team that this was a fight of pride because we’re both NCAA teams so we have to show the difference between us.”

Not only did the Lady Red Spikers outperform the Lady Stags in the spikes department, 46-34, but they were also on point from the service line with 16 aces.

Nieza Viray and Satrriani Espiritu added 15 and 13 points, respectively, for the Lady Red Spikers.

Joyce Sta. Rita had 13 points to lead San Sebastian while Sofia Sarmiento added 10.
