PVL: FEU earns 4th win after 5-set thriller against Perpetual

Far Eastern University eked out a five-set win over University of Perpetual Help, 25-15, 15-25, 22-25, 25-14, 15-6, in the Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference Sunday at Filoil Flying V Centre.

The Lady Tamaraws improved to a 4-1 record while the Lady Altas slipped to 1-4.

Celine Domingo powered FEU’s charge with 18 points while Jeanette Villareal and Heather Guino-o provided the support with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

FEU head coach George Pascua said he just gave his team a little nudge of motivation after falling into a 2-1 set disadvantage and finish off with strong performances in the final two sets.

“I told them that they just needed to concentrate and focus on the task at hand so they can achieve what they want in the game,” said Pascua, who gave his substitutes vital minutes during the match.

Lycha Ebon first gave the Lady Tamaraws a 6-3 lead in the fifth and that eventually became her team’s foundation throughout the set.

Heather Guino-o bumped FEU’s lead to 10-5 with an off-the-block kill before the Lady Tamaraws reached the 14-6 match point after the Lady Altas’ communication broke down.

Cindy Imbo led Perpetual with 15 points while Jenny Gaviola and Jowie Versoza had 13 and 10 points, respectively.
