Filipin0-American Jordan Clarkson couldn’t be more grateful for being allowed to finally represent the Philippines in the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia.
In a post on Facebook, Clarkson thanked the people who worked together to make his dream of wearing the Philippines’ colors a reality.
The NBA initially gave Clarkson a thumbs down before an appeal by Philippine sports officials convinced the league to make a U-turn and grant the Cleveland Cavaliers guard clearance to play in the continental meet.
The Philippine men’s basketball team plays Kazakhstan in its first game on Thursday in a must-win duel that Clarkson will likely miss with the 26-year-old being a buzzer-beating inclusion.
Clarkson, who was also chosen to be the country’s flag-bearer, is reportedly expected to arrive in Indonesia Thursday morning.
If Clarkson does miss the all-important game against Kazakhstan, his much-awaited PH debut will be against China on August 21.
