MANILA, Philippines—Two-time defending champion San Sebastian College-Recoletos of Cavite and 2006 titlist AMA Computer scored stirring victories over their respective foes late Tuesday to strengthen their bids in the National Athletics Association of Schools Colleges and Universities men’s basketball at the University of Manila Gym.
The Baycats showed they are slowly getting their championship form back when they demolished the St. Clare Saints, 78-65, while the Titans subdued the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasay Eagles, 85-79.
Both teams registered their fourth triumphs in six outings.
Rookie Clifford Castro led the Baycats’ charge with 18 points, followed by veteran forward Jeofrrey Acain with 17 points.
Earlier, league leaders Our Lady of Fatima University and five-time champion University of Manila triumphed over Lyceum of Subic Bay and STI, respectively, to remain tied at the top spot with 5-1 slates.
The Phoenix, powered by rookie guard Romyl Joronacion’s 21 points, drubbed the Sharks, 80-59. The Hawks leaned on rookie guard Rhandelle Colina, who had 16 points, to down the Olympians, 75-65.
Informatics scored its third win when it routed University of Makati, 117-72, in the other game.
