NLEX to replace injured import Olu Ashaolu
ANTIPOLO—Oluseyi Ashaolu’s rousing first game in the PBA Governors’ Cup turned out to be his last.
Ashaolu, who starred with 33 points and 23 rebounds is set to be replaced after he suffered a partially totn patellar tendon in his right knee
Article continues after this advertisementNLEX assistant coach Jojo Lastimosa said there’s already a replacement for Ashaolu, who played one game in the Commissioner’s Cup, but he is yet to arrive in the Philippines.
“Props to Olu and just in case you guys didn’t know we already have a replacement for him because he hurt his knee in our tuneup game against Meralco,” said Lastimosa.
“He told us ‘coach if there’s no replacement I’ll give you whatever I can give you.’”
Article continues after this advertisementAshaolu said it’s been two weeks since he suffered an injury when he landed awkwardly after going for a “routine jump hook.”
“I’ll try to keep playing as long as I can, I don’t want to stop playing but obviously I got to take care of my knee for my future,” said Ashaolu. “But I’m here to do a job so, we’ll figure it out with the doctors.”
