Adamson University locked up a spot in the semifinals after stopping University of Santo Tomas in four sets, 25-15, 24-26, 25-23, 25-20, in the Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference Saturday at Filoil Flying V Centre.

The Lady Falcons stretched their undefeated streak to five games while ending the Golden Tigresses’ own run to send them to a 5-1 card.

Lea Ann Perez put up 12 points to lead Adamson while Genesis Trisha, Bernadette Flora, and Eli Soyud all had 10 points apiece.

Despite their undefeated run, Adamson head coach Air Padda wants more from her players after they squandered a 14-6 lead in the fourth set.

“When the players get a big lead they become relaxed and complacent and they haven’t found the right mix of playing hard, being focused, and having fun,” said Padda. “They’re like toddlers and they become careless.”

UST managed to tie the fourth set at 16, but fortunately for Adamson, the Golden Tigresses were the ones who dug themselves into a hole later in the period.

Adamson held a slim 22-20 edge when the Golden Tigresses unceremoniously committed three straight errors.

Milena Alessandrini had 23 points to lead the Golden Tigresses, who played without star rookie Eya Laure.
