Nelia Santos of the Pasig Bowling Association ruled the finals of the Mixed Senior Division of the 4th Grand Mall Tenpin Bowling Club (GMTBC)-Yee Lu Fa Invitational Open Championships at the Sta. Lucia Mall Bowling Center in Cainta, Rizal.
Santos scorched the lanes with a 8-game total of 1842, or an average of 230, to beat Jun de Guzman of Sletba-GMTBC with 1798, and Fernand dela Cruz of PBA with 1774 during the finals of the division on Friday.
In the Mixed Youth Division finals held on Saturday morning, Art Barrientos of TBAM-Prima, rolled a total of 1747 to win a close fight with 1st runner-up Kayle Abad of PBA-Nobleland with 1735. Juancho Calumpong of Sletba posted 1662 to wound up third.
Later Saturday, Miguel Ocampo of TBAM-Prima held off a big challenge by Arnold Alvarez of Sletba-GMTBC, then beat top qualifier Jun de Guzman, also of Sletba-GMTBC, to rule the stepladder finals of the Mixed Classified category.
Ocampo scored a 174 against Alvarez’s 166, to earn the right to challenge De Guzman who enjoyed a twice-to-beat advantage. Ocampo, in the end, won a tightly-contested game with De Guzman to clinch the championship.
The GMTBC Open, which is sanctioned by the Philippine Bowling Federation, will hold Sunday the finals for the Mixed 14 & Under category and the Mixed Open Masters division..
