Wushu artist Divine Wally delivered the Philippines’ fifth bronze medal in the 2018 Asian Games after her bittersweet finish in the women’s sanda 52-kilogram semifinals.
Wally, who was assured of a bronze medal heading into the semifinals, lost to Elaheh Mansoryan Samiroumi of the Islamic Republic of Iran, 1-2, on Wednesday at JIExpo Hall B in Jakarta.
Mansoryan Samiroumi will next face China’s Li Yueyao in the gold medal match.
Wally beat Indonesia’s Selviah Pertiwi, 2-0, in the previous round to assure her of the bronze medal before she faced Mansoryan Samiroumi.
As of posting, the Philippines is at the 16th place of the medal table with Hidilyn Diaz’ gold medal still the country’s lone top prize in the competition so far.
