Carlos Yulo had a disappointing ending to his otherwise strong start as he crashed from the medal race in the men’s floor exercise of the gymnastics competition of the 2018 Asian Games Thursday at Jakarta International Expo.
Yulo was the top performer of Monday’s qualifiers but finished seventh out of the eight competitors in the final round,.
A couple of failed landings proved costly for Yulo as he finished with 13.5 points, just .075 ahead of Japan’s Kakeru Tanigawa, who placed last.
Korea’s Kim Hansol won the gold medal with a score of 14.675 points with Chinese-Taipei’s Tang Chia-Hung taking the silver with 14.425 points.
China’s Lin Chaopan rounded out the podium with his 14.225-point performance.
