Ryan Gregorio appointed special assistant to SBP president

The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas has appointed former PBA head coach Ryan Gregorio as the special assistant to the president Al Panlilio on Friday.

Gregorio’s appointment is effective immediately.

In his new post, Gregorio is expected to “directly to assist and provide the president with highly personalized support and advice regarding but not limited to human resource, executive, and administrative duties.”

He will also be involved in matters of budgeting, strategic planning, and sharing governance of the office’s day-to-day operations.

Gregorio is a three-time champion coach, leading the Purefoods franchise to titles in the 2002 Governors’ Cup and the 2006 and 2010 Philippine Cups. He is also a three-time PBA Coach of the Year.

This appointment came after Gregorio became part of Yeng Guiao’s coaching staff in the Asian Games where he serves as the chief scout.
