Jeron Teng, Xavier face CKS in juniors tilt
MANILA, Philippines – The 42nd Metro Manila Tiong Lian Basketball Association (MMTLBA) Juniors tournament fires off Saturday with Xavier superstar Jeron Teng hoping to close out his high school career with a flourish.
An exciting tripleheader awaits Tiong Lian fans but all eyes will be on Teng when the Golden Stallions open their record five-peat bid against arch-rivals Chiang Kai Shek College at 1 p.m.
The former Philippine Youth standout produced several firsts last year, including scoring an eye-popping 104 points against this year’s host Grace Christian College. That and his massive 39.5 points average earned him his second Most Valuable Player award to join the elite club of two-time winners.
MMTLBA chair Dr. James Tan of Grace Christian will welcome officials and specials guests, including PBA Commissioner Chito Salud, during the opening ceremony of the event which will have “Moving Forward, Achieving Unity” as theme.
