Sure bronze medals for PH from Dumaan, Loon in pencak silat
Dines Dumaan and Jefferson Rhey Loon assured themselves of at least a bronze medal finish after whipping their foes Friday in the pencak silat competition in the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta.
Both Southeast Asian Games gold medalists, Dumaan and Loon continued their hot streak to the continent meet, setting up a semifinals meeting against Malaysia’s Muhammad Fayzul Nazir and Vietnam’s Nguyen Ngoc Tuan, respectively.
Dumaan outclassed India’s Naorem Boynao Singh, 5-0, in the men’s 50-55 KGs Class B quarterfinals while Loon dominated Kyrgyzstan’s Almazbek Zamirov, 4-0, in the men’s Class D 60-65 KGs of tanding (sparring).
Meanwhile, Princesslyn Enopia was eliminated from medal contention in the women’s 50-55 KGs Class D after absorbing a 0-5 loss to Laos’ Sounthavong Olathai in the round-of-eight.
