Just as Calvin Abueva’s getting himself acquainted with his new team in Phoenix, one major drama episode is about to unfold right before his eyes when he faces his former club Alaska in the PBA Governors’ Cup.

Abueva has only been with the Fuel Masters for more than two weeks but be will already face the team that he’s had a six-year relationship with on Wednesday.

This comes in the middle of the Fuel Masters’ four-game opening schedule just before the PBA takes a break for the Fiba window, but Abueva said it’s just another game for him.

“Wednesday’s game will be a good matchup, you guys will enjoy it,” said Abueva in Filipino Sunday at Smart Araneta Coliseum. “And actually I’m just focused on this month because we have four games and there’s no rest so we just have to focus until the 31st.”

Abueva and Alaska’s relationship ended in a sour note and it started when the former started to miss practices for almost three straight weeks for undisclosed reasons during the Commissioner’s Cup.

Alaska, sensing Abueva hasn’t been committing to his obligations, shipped him to Phoenix for Karl Dehesa and a future draft pick.

For Abueva, though, he won’t come into his reunion game with any feelings whatsoever.

“This is a game, and whatever happens we still have one more but we have to win this one so we will have a 4-0 record,” said Abueva, whose team sits at the top with a 2-0 record and is tied with the Aces.
