Magsanoc tasked to lead 3×3 program

Meralco Bolts assistant coach Ronnie Magsanoc will take charge of the country’s 3×3 basketball program, which is geared toward sending a team when the event makes its debut in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Magsanoc received his appointment on Thursday from Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas president Al Panlilio, who immediately tasked the PBA legend to form a competitive team that will represent the country in the Fiba 3×3 Challenger in Shanghai, China, from Sept. 7 to 9.

Having seen the potential of the country to impress the world, Magsanoc said he looks forward to continuing the program which he was already a part of when he handled the team of Christian Standhardinger, RR Pogoy, Stanley Pringle and Troy Rosario in the Fiba 3×3 World Cup last June.

Panlilio said Magsanoc will lead the development of strategic initiatives and will be responsible in the management of the overall program.

“It’s a great challenge but anytime you’re called upon to help the program is always an honor and privilege,” said Magsanoc, whose pool for Shanghai includes two-time Asean Basketball League Most Valuable Player Ray Parks.
