PH’s Rogen Ladon assured of bronze in Asian Games boxing

Filipino boxer Rogen Ladon secured at least a bronze medal after outpointing Azat Mahmetov of Kazakhstan in the quarterfinals of the men’s flyweight event in the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Ladon bested Mahmetov, 3-2, to book a spot in the semifinals.

He will shoot for the silver on Friday against Thai Yuttapong Tongdee, which also edged his opponent Gan-Erdene Gankhuyag, 3-2, in the other quarterfinal pairing.

Philippine boxing finally got a medalist after suffering a string of setbacks with the likes of Nesthy Petecio, Joel Bacho, James Palicte, Irish Magno and Mario Fernandez crashed out of contention early.

Two more Filipinos in Carlo Paalam and Eumir Felix Marcial will shoot for semis slots on Wednesday.
