It was a disappointing farewell for Filipino boxer Carlo Paalam as he lost to India’s Amit in the semifinals of the men’s light flyweight division in the boxing competition of the 2018 Asian Games Friday at JIExpo in Jakarta.

Amit escaped with a close 3-2 victory, 29-28, 28-29, 28-29, 30-27, 29-28, to advance to the finals against Uzbekistan’s Hasanboy Dusmatov.

Paalam, nonetheless, gave the Philippines its 14th bronze medal after finishing third in the competition.

Flyweight Rogen Ladon already advanced to the finals while middleweight Eumir Marcial is set fight Uzbek boxer Israil Madrimov at 8:45 pm (Manila time).
