It was as if Stephen Curry’s road to the NBA was predestined.
Steph’s father Dell had been a quality role player during his 16-year NBA career and the younger Curry got to witness that journey up close.
That early exposure to the NBA has instilled a sense of professionalism to Curry that he eventually embodied in own career.
“It’s amazing, obviously. I’m blessed to grow in a family that put me in the game of basketball,” said Curry during his press conference for his Under Armour Asia Tour Friday Shangri-La in Bonifacio Global City.
“I saw my dad and how he carried himself as a professional and it helped me transition into the NBA.”
Dell played for five teams during his career where he won the Sixth Man of the Year award in 1994.
Curry, though, has already supplanted his father’s achievements nine years into his NBA career having won three titles and two MVPs with Golden State.
And even though he has achieved much more than his father did, Curry said he still works out with Dell.
“He’s still around, he’s working out with me,” said Curry. “He’s rebounding the ball for me, contesting my shots, my mom as well is helping me, and I love to share those moments with my family.”
